Welcome to my online language and tutoring portal La boutique linguistique! Please come in and have a look around. This is a place where you can:

  • learn Dutch, English, German or French in an interactive context,
  • find a tutor or be taught by a professional experienced teacher in any of those four languages

My name is Jeanette, a Dutch linguaphile living in Germany. After having finished my studies, I started teaching Dutch, English, German and French for adults, as well as for children (for the latter category predominantly in the context of tutoring).

During the first years of my professional career, I was a language teacher for my own company, “Study Services Groningen”, until I moved to Germany in late 2014, where I have worked for German language schools and tutoring services ever since. However, I have taken the initiative to work on my own account as well, in order to choose my teaching methods and materials freely, and in order to meet the customers’ needs, demands and expectations.

1. Teaching methods

As every language learner comes with his/her own learning goal(s), style(s) and preference(s), I see it as my task to adapt my lessons to those specific needs. This means that I use many different teaching methods, varying from traditional teaching with language books to teaching with a wide variety of language games.

I teach via online conference rooms such as Skype, Whereby, Jitsi Meet and Google Meet video conferencing. I prefer private lessons so that you can fully immerse yourself in a new language. Upon request, I can make an exception for couples or small groups, if the participants have the same language level, needs and preferences.

3. Terms and conditions

Clients will receive an invoice once a month, per e-mail. The invoice is to be paid within the course of one week. A lesson that is cancelled less than 24 hours before it should start, will be fully charged.

By taking one or more lessons at la boutique linguistique, you agree to the terms and conditions mentioned above.

4. Your advantages

  • A high degree of flexibility: at the end of every lesson, the teacher and the student(s) make an appointment for the next lesson.
  • You decide how long each lesson should take (45 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes).
  • no contracts, no hidden costs, no fine print
  • You tell what your wishes are and, as far as possible, the lesson(s) will be adapted accordingly.
  • Your teacher does not only work with standard books, but she also designs her own tailor-made educational materials.
  • You will be taught by an experienced teacher with an extensive educational background in the field of language learning and teaching.
  • The language of instruction does not (always) necessarily have to be the target language; you can choose to be instructed in English, French, German and Dutch (as well).
  • As a non-native speaker, your teacher of English, German and French has gone through the process of explicitly learning those languages herself. Therefore, she often knows the grammar rules and knows how to explain them. Likewise, she can help you with memory techniques for learning vocabulary and grammar.
  • If you would like to learn Dutch, your native speaker teacher will have an extensive knowledge of the Dutch language and culture.

  • Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics: Teaching English as a Foreign Language (University of Groningen, the Netherlands),
  • Post-Bachelor’s certificate of Teacher Training Course for Dutch as a Second Language in Adult Education (University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle (NL), and Free University of Amsterdam),
  • Post-Bachelor’s certificate of satisfactory didactical competence for teaching in Vocational and Adult Education,
  • Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Culture delivered by the University of Groningen (NL)
  • Propaedeutic degree in Romance Languages and Cultures, with French as the main language (University of Groningen)
  • Zertifikat Deutsch (Certificate in German) at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), University of Groningen
  • Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française (DELF) delivered by theInstitut Français.Diploma in French Language Studies  at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
